Who we are and what these Terms cover

ChatterHub (“ChatterHub”, “we”, “us”) runs the ChatterHub app for Android, the web and desktop, this website and the services behind them (together, the “Service”). These Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy and the other policies linked on this site are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.

Accepting these Terms

You accept these Terms when you tick the box on the welcome screen and tap Agree and continue, or when you use the Service in any other way. If you do not agree, please do not use ChatterHub.

We will sometimes update these Terms. When a change matters, we tell you in the app and ask you to accept the new version before you carry on. Using the Service after that acceptance means the new Terms apply.

Who can use ChatterHub

You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher. If you are under 18 you need permission from a parent or guardian.
You sign in with a phone number you own or are allowed to use, and the one-time code we send to it by SMS.
One account belongs to one person. You may keep up to five accounts on one device and switch between them.
You may not use ChatterHub if we have closed an earlier account of yours for breaking these Terms, or if the law where you live forbids it.

Your account and your devices

Keep your phone, your app PIN and your chat locks safe: anyone holding your unlocked phone can act as you. Settings → Linked devices shows every signed-in session and lets you remove any of them; your other devices get a warning when a new one signs in. Tell us at once at legal@chatterhub.co.za if you think someone else has access to your account.

What the Service includes

ChatterHub gives you private and group chats (text, voice notes, photos, videos, files, statuses, GIFs, stickers and polls), voice and video calls, Masa A.I, Chatter Notes and Chatter Docs, and Verse — your calendar, shared lists, votes, bill splits and stokvels.

ChatterPay, the wallet and in-chat payments, is visible in the app but locked while we wait for regulatory approval. Until it opens, no money moves through it and it is not part of the Service.

We keep improving ChatterHub, so features will be added, changed and sometimes removed. ChatterHub is new; some things will still be rough, and we want to hear about them under Settings → Help and feedback.

Plans, prices and payments

The Free plan (Tier 1) costs nothing and is supported by optional rewarded video ads (see Ads). Plus, Pro and Business are paid monthly or yearly subscriptions that add sharper calls, more storage, more Masa and extra Verse features. Paid plans are opening soon; until then they appear under a “Coming soon” tab and cannot be bought.

On Android you buy and manage a plan through Google Play, under Google's terms. Cancel or change it in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
On the web and desktop you pay by card on Paystack's secure page. Your card number goes to Paystack and never reaches us.
A subscription renews automatically until you stop it; it then runs to the end of the period you paid for and drops back to Free.
Invite & earn: every five friends who sign up with your code and are still using ChatterHub a week later earn you a month of Plus, up to three months. Rewards are promotional, have no cash value, and are withdrawn if they were earned with fake or duplicate accounts.
Upgrading part-way through a period credits the unused part of your old plan against the new price.
Refunds follow the Consumer Protection Act and, for Play purchases, Google Play's refund policy.
Every plan has fair-use limits — Masa tokens, storage, file size, people per call and HD call minutes. Settings → Subscription shows yours.

Your content

What you create and send stays yours. You give us only the limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence we need to store, copy, relay and display it so the Service can work — for example to deliver a message to the people you sent it to, or to keep your files on our storage. The licence ends when the content is deleted from our systems.

You are responsible for what you send. Mark adult images and videos 18+ when you send them, and follow our Acceptable use policy.

Masa A.I

Warning: what you send to Masa leaves ChatterHub. Masa's answers are written by DeepSeek, an A.I company in China. Your question, and any messages or documents you give Masa, are sent to DeepSeek and handled under DeepSeek's own privacy policy, which says it stores data in China and may use it to improve its models. Do not share passwords, PINs, ID or bank numbers, health details or anything private with Masa. Calls and files are never sent to DeepSeek, and chats only in two cases: when you tap Catch me up or Translate, and when anyone in a chat writes @masa - then the recent messages of that chat go along so Masa can answer, so tell your group before you use @masa there.

Masa can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check anything important yourself, and never rely on an A.I answer for medical, legal or financial decisions. You may not use Masa to create unlawful content, to impersonate real people or to get around its safety limits. See Disclaimers.

Suspension and ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete my account (see Deleting your account). We may limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms or the law, that is used for fraud or abuse, or that puts other people or the Service at risk. Where it is safe and lawful we will tell you why.
